It's Been A LONG Time! Found A Big Ole Ring

Hi Friends,

It's been a very long time since I've been on here but it's good to be back! I don't have as much time to detect like a did several years ago, but yesterday I was searching the back yard of a neighbor and found this big silver ring It is the size of a class ring (in fact I thought it was at first). The back says "STERLING" and "MEXICO" and has a gold center on top of a green stone, which is chipped. There was mud in the chipped area and I'm very sure I didn't hit the ring with my digging tool..it may have been grazed by a mower blade before it got buried.

Thanks all. The funny thing is I started about a half hour before dark. I found a quarter, a penny, a hem weight and some other round piece of metal. Then I searched along the fence. It rang out like a half dollar so I dug. Came up in the first scoop. I'd say total detecting time was 15 minutes. I was lucky!

Thanks, and beez0404 please show me where I said that, you may be thinking of some other post (?) I know the neighbor whose yard it was and he's not much older than I am. When I gave it to him today he said he's lived there for over 20 years and it wasn't his.
