Got out today to a Baltimore City park and found that 95% of the ground is frozen to about 2 inches. I found that a south-facing hillside was mostly thawed at midday. Temps were always below freezing but I was able to hunt for 2.5 h. A good showing in clad of $3.99, this Howard Co. animal control tag (phone number is for Animal Control), and the find of the afternoon was this shoe buckle frame from 9 inches. The frame measures 1-5/8 x 3 inches.

Nice finds and coffee money too. Congrats

very cool frame. awesome really

You got framed with a late 18th century shoe buckle, not too shabby for a park!

Not bad my friend you've been doing great this year!!!!!Your a die hard like me the only difference is your finding cool stuff. Well done

Thanks Smokey! You may be reading my mind.....could this be military...aka War of 1812?

It looks earlier. The shoe buckles were really going out of style by the War of 1812 and "regulation" issue, well, I just haven't seen that. However, since I find colonial stuff in Civil War sites, it was possibly used for that purpose. They (family) sent the "old stuff" off to war with the soldiers.

Thanks Tommy! Looks like there's a little Bruce Willis is us both :).

Thanks Professor! I think that is my first intact shoe buckle frame. Found parts before.

Thanks Hawks88! Seems like mostly modern coins and trash on this hillside overlooking sports fields, but it did yield one relic.

Thanks dirtlooter! I do like "lootin" dirt!

Cool digs! Awesome frame and dog tag. Thanks for giving us a look!

Thanks RustyGold! Thank you for checking out the finds! GL & HH!!

Four dollars in clad in 2.5 hours I need to find some parks like that! I'd been happy with the shoe buckle. Nice finds
Suppose to hit 45 and rain tomorrow hoping to get out for an hour or two myself.

Way to hang in there MCD with the cold weather y'all have to deal with and in doing so you made an awesome save!!! "D"
