i've decided to go with the beachunter i.d. instead of the fisher 1280x

Thanks for all the replies though about the fisher, I agree with what most have said though that the fisher 1280 is becoming a outdated machine. Plus i like whites metal detectors anyway. Even though i don't get the lifetime warranty, as long as i make sure everything is secure before i dive in i shouldnt' have a problem anyway. Again thx for all the replies.

BH ID is a good unit, it is great on the beach and shallow water the color LEDs help when identifying what to dig when hunting.

Remember the BH ID is only water proof to 25 feet, I would be very careful and make sure the O-ring has no sand on it at all and that it is tight. Mine leaked into the batter compartment while wading due to bad o-ring per whites. They replaced the O-ring and the bottom of the battery compartment. Luckily battery compartment is separate from electronics compartment and no water got in it and so no damage done. It came back from whites with clean bill of health and under warranty.

Just curious if your going to be diving why you chose BH ID instead of the Excal which is waterproof to 200 feet.

I live in michigan, which means freshwater only. I figure the bhid will be plenty enough power for me here. Plus i like the tone i.d feature. I know the excalibur is the best unit out there, but i just don't think i need that kind of power here plus it will save me a few bucks anyway.

Just be careful you don't dive too deep for the BHID, and keep eye on the o-ring. I wasn't putting the BHID down, I owned one and it was a good unit, just advising be careful.

Matt I seen your email address in your profile and figured out who you are. I don't think we have met. I am Cliff from the Dirt club when you get your water detector let me know and we will find a beach to hunt. I have a 1280 Cliff
