I've got a crazy question...

I don't want to sound like an idiot or something, but I was wondering if people have found Spanish silver in Georgia and where??? I know that Georgia was colonized around savannah, but is it possible to find any revolutionary era relics or coins in say central ga?? Hey a guy can dream right? :dontknow:

There are no crazy/stupid questions, only stupid answers, and mine is stupid, because I have no clue, as to the answer of your question...but I'll research it, and get back to you later.

Mike

Haha thanks, well I know that some of the city's within 30 min of me were founded in the early 1820's but you know how it goes... They pretty much become parking lots. I do ALOT of research on the town I live in that became officially a city in 1840 and found out where all of the original parks were. Wouldn't you know it the first city park and fairgrounds from the mid 1800's is now occupied by KFC!!! lol That's just how it goes I guess.

Spanish coins were in common use for a long time in this country. They can be found most anywhere people lived 200+ years ago.

The Spanish were all over GA. They mined in the N GA mountains and traded with the Cherokee indians. There is a lot of spanish sign in the N GA area. Central GA I don't know about.

What do you mean by Spanish sign??? What part of Ga do you live in?

Did you find a this century Spanish coin or and older one, early 1900's,1800's.I find newer ones in the Coinstar reject slot.

I haven't found one lol I am hoping to find an old one some day. I've found PLENTY of modern day foreign coins detecting though.

I compare old Sanborn maps to current Google maps and I found the same thing. There are a lot of schools and hotels of the cities/towns around my area that are now under parking lots or gas stations. I still feel that there may be luck around the outer edges of the parking lots, but I haven't tried this theory yet.

Yeah I actually lucked up recently and in the new city park I found one little small area that has been producing a good handful of old coins. I dug three so far from the 1800's. Im trying to find the perimeter of where the coins stop. Seems like they follow a walking path, but to a normal person it would just look like an everyday paved walking path lol Makes me wonder whats under the concrete.
