I've seen something like this before but can't place it......any help?

I found this copper bracket in a field that I have pulled LC's dating to 1820's.
The riveted material sanwiched between the bracket and rivets appears to be sheet copper.
Along side of it is a flat button with gold gilt still on it the size of a penny. The button was in the vicinity of the bracket.
I find a lot of unidentifiable (to me) objects but few of the banged up broken pieces of history intrigue me.
Just a quick ID of what it may have been used for and I will do the rest....

Thanks for examining my post
Ran

Yours is smaller but same deal, handle attachment part for a copper bucket/kettle.I say kettle because I have a bigger version of it that most likely went on a kettle.Your time frame of early 1800's sounds good as mine came from a site that dated about that time.
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Looks like another bail bracket off of a pot or bucket, similar to this one:

Mine is no bucket...it would have been one hell of a bucket....................... :D Anyway you can see one in the pick below found at Jamestown just like mine.

A few kitchen utensils and accessories excavated at Jamestown: a ladle, brass pan, knife blades, fork, kettle fragments, spout, colander fragments, and pot hooks.

Yes..Yes...Thats way cooler than i expected!
In fact I think the pieces of copper that I have been unearthing just might be parts of the bucket body.
