Hello,

First time poster here hope some one can help me out. I got some cufflink in a box full of old stuff and they are marked Ives Kendrick & CO superfine. I can't fine any information on them making cufflinks, They are a little bigger then a nickle. I'm starting to think maybe someone turned them in to cufflinks I don't know though to be honest since I don't know to much about this company. Also does anyone know if they made any of their products out of real gold? becuase I tested the round button looking front part with 14k acid and it faded super slow and then went to 10k and it didn't fade. I also tested the gold part that makes them cufflinks on the back with 10k & 14k solution and it came negative.I think I will go get a second opinion on weather that part is gold, but It just kinda surprises me that this piece can be over 160 years old and the gold not be faded at all. Below is some pictures of the cufflink. Thanks in advance for any information any can give me.

I think that they are made from buttons also. Wish I could help you but I just don't know much about them. Great pictures by the way. Tennessee digger

The Ives Kendrick buttons are known for heavy gold plate. Your cufflinks were without a doubt made from their buttons, I have a couple with a similar design, photo of one of them included that cleaned up great after being in the ground for quite some time.

It does look similar to mine.I would not of guessed the buttons were that old when I first saw them becuase of the awesome condition they are in. I buy antiques all the time and condition is everything. Do you happen to know a web page or anything with a little history on Ives Kendrick & Co by any chance? I couldn't fine nothing expect for the period they made buttons.

Ives Kendrick & Co were a mercantile business, selling clothes and buttons, and other items. They were in business in the 1830's I was not able to find when they stopped selling products. The button was actually made by R. W. Robinson, as the stars around the center give this away. Though there is some speculation that Scovills made the button. Who knows?

Cufflinks made out of gold plated buttons. For sure. Sweet set! Not solid gold though for sure.

Very cool.
