I became a Janis Joplin fan the very first moment I heard Ball and Chain with Big Brother and The Holding Company for the first time on the radio.
I got to see Janis live, in Tampa in November of 1967, two weeks before I entered the Airforce to avoid the draft after receiving my draft notice. She was arrested after the show on two counts of disorderly conduct for using vulgar and obscene language on stage during Curtis Hall concert in Tampa.
There hasn't been a woman yet that could sing the bluesy rock Janis could. 39 years later I still enjoy her music and miss her singing............
I wouldn't walk across the street to see a free Britney Spears concert.
Monterey Pop Festival 1967 (Note at 3:29, Mama Cass is shown in awe listening to Janis...........)
