This is my first post. Thank you to everyone for all the information i've gotten from this sight. I've never had to make a post before because others have asked all the questions I've had.Great site. I am new to metal detecting and got my first real find today other than modern coins. I was curious if anyone may have seen one of these tokens before. After doing a quick google search I was able to find a picture of the coin, but no information about what kind of business J.B. Webster was or dates of opperation. The token says, "good for 50 cents in trade" on one side, and "J.B. Webster , Deeth NV" on the other side. I tried to load a picture but it said it was too big and I don't know how to resize. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The J. B. Webster tokens are listed in both current NV token books, but only Haddock's book says "circa 1900". The 1900 Census does not show anyone with that name using the indexes at Ancestry.com or HeritageQuest. Actually, I can find nobody with those initials in NV for 20 years either way from 1900. With the known denominations shown in the NV books (5¢, 25¢, 50¢, $1, and "one drink"), and the fact that some varieties are bimetallic (brass outer ring with aluminum center - often used to discourage counterfeiting), I would say that Webster operated a general merchandise business with perhaps a bar included.
