Jade or that funny sounding name the lucayans moned in blocks

A friend of mine finds Jade like rocks on the shores of the Bahamas, they really look and feel like Jade. I noticed on a post on TN that the Lucayans and Caribs mined blocks of.......... But I can't remember what it was called

Any help available, or is it really Jade, cos it really is a close thing having seen and touched the real thing in the Far East.
