I was able to slip out on Monday morning with TNet member, Smittyman. We utilized the 70 degree day to do a little treasure hunting.

My first find was a heavy Asian coiny looking thing. After a little research, it turned out to be a 1937 Japanese "China Incident" war medal. I can only assume that a GI brought it home as a WWII souvenir.

A little while later I stumbled across what I initially thought was a piece of trash, however, upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a lead toy tank. Nothing has the taste of a good old fashioned lead toy!

My intended target is the silver coin, and finally, a '54 Rosie appeared... whew. I regret to report that Smittyman found two Rosies. However, he did not find any Japanese war medals or lead toy tanks!

YTD silver coin #47.

Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts!

Congrats on the metal and lead tank. It's not every day anyone finds either one of those. The silver is nice to find too.

Very nice Medal and Lead toy tank. Congrats on the silver rosie.

That medal cleaned up nicely. Don't sweat the Rosies. I'm pretty sure most of us on TNet would trade you quite a few silver Rosie finds in order to be able to find an item unusual as that.

Thanks for the props Smittyman. I sure did have a lot of fun on our hunt yesterday. YOU ROCK!

メダル、トムを見つける非常にいい

I like the silver also! Congratulations.

Some history on your medal:

This medal commemorates the renewed Japanese intervention in China from1937 to 1945. This undeclared war (know as "incident" bythe Japanese) did not end until Japanese surrender in 1945.

ImperialEdict No. 496 of 27 July 1939 established this award for allpersonnel who departed for China, so it is a very common medal. It isof 30 mm. bronze (sometimes pure matt finish or gilt finish). Theobserve shows the mythical giant red crow "yata-no-karasu"but depicted with two legs instead of the three that the mythicalbird really had. Army and a Navy flags surround the bird. Above itthere is the usual chrysanthemum crest. Reverse shows a sea and somemountains with four seal characters.
Ribbon, if it were there, is 37 mm. watered silk of 3 mm. blue, 3 mm. light blue, 7,5 mm. tan,3,5 mm. dark pink and 2 mm. bright read. The colours are meant forthe Navy, the Air Force, the Army, the blood-stained soil of Chinaand loyalty.
