this IS a quad I got a great deal on a couple of weeks ago from a friend. You all would not believe me if I was to tell you what I paid for this. This artifact comes with a Baker Coa and he grades it a 8. Just a wonderful piece I think and ecspecially what i got it for. A wonderful piece to my NC an SC collection. I also so got a great deal on a G9 Yadkin i will post. Hope you enjoy.

Nice piece, I'd believe ya if ya wanna say what ya paid for it!

Very nice point. I wish we found those types in my area, but sadly we don't.

It is a nice point but, I do not think it is a Quad. I have many, many of those type of points that I have found on Archaic sites in Central KY and I would say it is more like a Brewerton. JMHO.

Goodmorning all and thanks for they replies. Ohio this looks to me like the typical quad for my region of n.c and s.c I know they are several styles for other states but what makes you think this is not a quad from my region. Our materials are not as nice and are harder to work than any other states which makes our points a little more crude than others. Maybe this being a different material is what makes you think that. No hard feelings at all just curious as why you think that. Im here to learn so any info is appreciated.
Thanks Clint

Carolina, I certainly meant no hard feelings as well. It is just my opinion that the size (a little on the small end), flaking, and form are not indicative of a Quad.

Ohio do you think that this may have been resharpend a few times and may have just messed with some of the paleo style flaking patterns, I do see that style in the relic. Thanks for your help, this is a new artifact for me so anything I can figure out on this piece would help. I will post some more pics today

In my opinion I would say that it was sharpened down for sure. I have some pics of groupings of similar points that I have found in KY. I am at work and do not have them at the moment. I do believe your point is early, just not paleo. Here is a point, which I believe could be an extremely early stage brewerton, that my buddy found while walking with me in KY this summer on a site that we have found literally dozens of similar points. We have found many many the size of yours but, this is by far the largest. Just a thought. Take care and Happy Hunting.

Oh yeah........I cannot remember for sure but, this point is at least three inches long.

Jasper is hard to flake, and I think a little heavier than flint or chert, it is rare here in WPA, more common in the eastern part of the state. Nice piece.

I have a few I've found here in Vt. but not in jasper. Ive always Id them as a brewerton eared.
