Jewelry from another time
Had time this AM to fit in a quick hunt and searched in a different part of Riverside Park (Baltimore). I got a "good" signal but found it was coming either from or under what seemed like a large flat chuck of stone. I removed more dirt to discover that the chunk was an old piece of sidewalk, about 4 x 7 inches and under 2 inches thick. With that out of the hole, the pinpointer was still chirping, so I dug a bit more and uncovered what I think might be a silver filigree earring, but I'm not certain about its vintage or purpose. Check out the ornate detail of this piece. As with all weathered and long-buried metal, it was weak at the joining loop and snapped as I was cleaning the piece.
Also pictured are a few of the coins found: 1917 and 1944 wheats and a 1940 Jefferson nickel.
