Theres an old story about this new prisoner being indoctrinated by the guards.

As the guard led the prisoner through the line of cells, they heard someone calling out a number which was followed by numerous laughs...

What's that asked the prisoner?

The guard stated that the prisoners had their favorite 100 jokes, each of which was numbered. And instead of retelling the joke, they just called out its number..

So the new prisoner memorized the jokes and one night as they all lay in thier bunks, someone called out a number and was followed by many laughs...

So the new prisoner thought he'd try so he called a number....and silence.

He called another number, and more silence...

He tried again with the same results...

His bunkmate looked at him and said "You know, some people just can't tell jokes".

It ain't necessarily how funny is the joke, but it's the f*** that tells it determines how many f***s laugh at it.
