Junk?!?

ok, so this was found in a creek. Its not metal, we checked with a metal derector. It has a small hole that runs through it. Feels too heavy to be bone, and wants to crumble around the edges. Any ideas would be welcome!!!

Almost makes me think broken stalagtite but the short pointy things on the sides make me think fossil bone. Weird. Could it be petrified wood?

Would it be so crumbly if it were petrified wood or bone? Thats the thing that keeps tripping me up. Dont get me wrong, i would be thrilled if it was either of those!!
