Jupiter inlet wreck

Where are they getting the sand from?
ZDD

The sand comes from offshore of the beach. Then, over the years, it migrates back and they do it all over again. Cash crop.

The sand is being dredged from the inlet, pumped onto the beach, and spread around with bulldozers. In the past they have trucked in construction grade sand from somewhere. Pete is right - within weeks it will have washed away and us taxpayers will foot the bill to repeat the process.

I don't know about down there but the last time they were doing it in Brevard I checked and they had a 50 YEAR CONTRACT!

maybe they will dredge up some spanish gold and leave it onshore for you to find

Jupiter inlet has a fixed pump and sandbox that pumps the sand from the inlet up to the beach on the South side, as does the next inlet to the South Lake Worth Inlet. If you do a webcam look at LWI you will see the pump set up on the Northside of the North Jetty, and the hoses on the South side of LWI. The area North of Jupiter Inlet is very shallow sand, and it goes out much farther than the jetty. It would be a constant thing that they will never fix, and always cover the reefs on the South side of Jupiter Inlet. Complete waste of money.

You are describing the pumping station at Boynton Inlet - not Jupiter Inlet.
A fixed pumping station on the north side would never be tolerated by the Jupiter Inlet colony Folks....

Oh by the way.... when the dredge head goes deep enough, they occasionally hit a "coin pocket" in the inlet
sand trap and throw coins up in the spoil pile that becomes our temporary beach, while burying the onshore reef
and bait fish habitats....
