I did a return trip to a field today that yesterday gave me a piece of lead pipe with an image of a Shield Nickel squashed into it. Alot more crap as I am digging anything that is not iron. I managed three more buttons, one is a small cuff size Tombac. The football shaped thing has me stumped :icon_scratch: I think the last pic is a piece from a very large crotal bell :dontknow: I sure would like to find a whole one that size ;D

The "football shaped thing" appears to be a stanchion that supported a small pole. Perhaps the pole that supported the pennant on a small water-craft.

Sweet buttons VPR. Is that the same field you were hunting in last year ???

NO. This is a field that I started this spring. It has given me two large cents, 1819, 1820. MANY buttons and quite a variety of other relics.
