Had a little free time today so I went for a short hunt. Saw a few pieces of flint and this nice little scraper.

I'm going to do a giveaway on it along with some other KRF artifacts that I've found this year.

Whomever can guess the oldest type of point I've ever found in the last 20 years I will send it and a few other artifacts from this year.

One guess each 20190408_143751.webp20190408_143811.webp20190408_143837.webp

I'm going to have to give it to you quito.....it was Goshen. I am a reader of George C Frison who at times refers to Goshen as Goshen-Plainview. I myself separate the two but that's walking a fine line.

Frison is careful about typology and Goshen-Plainview is his safe call.

The average northern Goshen and southern Plainview points are technologically similar in their manufacture.

However some examples of the northern Goshen points are extremely well made and those points exhibit a flaking technology that closely resembles that of Folsom.

The northern Goshen is also dated older than the southern Plainviews.

Hmmm.....,interesting. i have two different points very well made from the dakotas one papered by Dwain Rogers & the other by Jim Bennett, and both of them were typed plainview.

Then, I have a less than well made point from South Dakota that Author Dan Fox saw in my collection and called Goshen.

Sounds like there is a little confusion surrounding this type.
