Hello! :hello2:
Been roaming around here for a while and got inspired to buy a metal-detector.
Now i just have a quick question about the sensitivity of the coil.

Im experiencing permanent red dots on the screen when the target-trace is enabled. Ive tried washing the coil and reseting the machine but the only thing that works is to set the sensetivity from auto to manual about 12-13.
Anywhere i go i experiencing the same red dots. Anybody knows if this is right?

you washed the coil, but did you take the coil cover off?

That's what target trace is! Scan a nickel, then a quarter, then a pulltab and it should follow accordingly.

ok, i understand. But what i dont understand is that the detector "finds things" even though its nothing to trace.
The target trace is showing a soft indication all the time in that same spot.

Do you have the same spots alle the time in auto too, when you start up your detector and use auto-sense?

No that's not normal. Could it be EMI? Are you doing this near power lines, electric fences, in your house, or around another detector? Lowering the sensitivity makes me think it's EMI.

If it can't be EMI, call minelab.

No that doesn't sound right, sorry I misunderstood your post. Is this a new machine? I would do a factory reset first either way to see if there is any change.

I can rule out both EMI and resetting. Ive tried everything. But now i know its not normal. So thank you very much guys! :icon_thumleft:

With Target Trace Pinpoint set the screen should hold the target trace image. It should go bye-bye when you toggle pinpoint though. Experiment with the settings.

Sounds like ML needs to fix it. Or there is a ghost target at that exact spot following you around.:unhappysmiley:

What you are describing sounds like a defect in the unit. If it wasn't resolved with a factory reset, I'd say its time to send it for repairs.
