Hi folks,
Its been a long while since I have been on boards like this, and even longer since I have been metal detecting!!! I just bought an older home (build 1924) its got all the cool secret false walls, and such. I was planting new fence posts and pulled up a broken ball mason lid (the metal/porcelain type) with glass jar remains, but I was crushed for time, and could not investigate further. I have run pigs across half the pasture now, and they have turned up some interesting stuff that I will be posting pics later. I borrowed a detector to scour the rest of the more likely spots. thus far I found a wheat penny, and a few farm scrap metal from years ago. my neighbor told me a story about the previous owner getting him to dig up a jar in the yard with old ragged out bills.... OMG!!!

I have a million things going on so I can go walking alot, and the grounds are mainly farm metal parts, rocks...more rocks, and old school ball jar lids (the porcelain style - honestly everywhere!!!

right now I am borrowing a white's coinmaster GT, with pinpoint, and a decent depth gauge - what detector would you use in this type of setting?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Virginia for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

:hello: Welcome to tnet!

I guess first off, purchase a decent detector. Then, take your time in searching the property throughly a little area at a time. Good luck!

You've found a great place for information and fellow treasure hunters -- welcome to our community!

Welcome to the forum. I have a Stuart mailing address, on Fairystone Park Highway. Both sides of my ancestors were original settlers here, Turners & Robertsons straight from Scotland. I have the Robertson property - what's left of it. Retired and moved home 4 years ago.

Seems this remote area is getting crowded with detectorists! Good luck, and I'd say you're going to really enjoy TreasureNet!
