;D You gotta be kidding me............. The Cibola will only get down less than about eight inches on a coin due to it not having an adjustable ground balance. If you were up to your shoulder while kneeling next to the hole, stay away from all the parks or someone will definitely report you for destroying park grounds.

LOL good thing i know that now. i been digging deep. but no one has bothered me.

The Cibola won't go that deep unless your detecting a buried car. More likely you are reading a piece of iron that left a large halo and is probably just a bit off to one side of your hole. Long pieces of iron do this a lot. I get that from time to time with iron and with shotgun brass.

I tested it today i got 3 feet from the disk to 2 6 inch rerod sucks it wont read coins that deep. just wndering i did use a cloth measuring tape

The Cibola is a great machine and choose it over my other units, my Id Excel will not allow me to run wide open sensitivity in our soil due to excessive chatter and larger coins at 7" I'll sweep by whith the Excel but with my Cibola I'm able to run supertune all the time with no issue which allows me to have a excellent signal at that depth, I'm not talking about dimes or pennies at that depth but using silver quarters to test with. The Cibola does have a fixed ground balance which is not a issue in my area you can test your detector to see if you are having a issue with your soil as far as ground balance. Lift your detector waist high and press your pinpoint and set your threshold as you normally do and still holding the pinpoint lower the coil to the ground, just be sure there is no metal under the coil,if the detector has a dramatic changes of tune, you need to move to another site for best performance. The center of the coil is pretty small to use as a reference to pinpointing, most of the coins I find is about a 1 1/2" forward of the center, found this out by digging some huge holes going by the center of the coil, it's a matter of learning the detector.I noticed in your other post your digging alot of cans,a coin will give a sharp beep and on a quick sweep a double blip, If you get a strong signal lift your coil up about 8-10" and if you still get a strong signal 90% of the time it is surface trash "aluminum can".Cans will also give a different tone when pinpointed "higher pitch" especially when near the surface, try some coins vs as can with the pinpoint. There are some sites my Cibola will go crazy due to so much trash especially at a old school that was bulldozed, tons of bits of brass, copper, aluminum, rusty iron ect.... my other units go crazy as well with chatter,I just move and hunt the out skirts where there is not so much trash.Did not mean to write a book.
