Really loving this buckle. Was all of 10-12" down very near to where I pulled a 1600s nipple button a while back. Ill have to look for a match in my buckle book when I get home but pretty sure it dates no later than 1720. First early two piece buckle I have found with an intact chape(most of it) and made of the same material as the frame. Ive been doing really well with early buckles since last fall:headbang:

Great buckle , that's really saving history!

Now that is a beauty! :occasion14:

Thanks again everybody. This type of buckle is probably a once in a lifetime kind of find. A trefoil spectacle buckle and now this so I cant think of any other type of colonial buckle I would want over these except for a solid silver one of course

What a spectacular buckle find. Would make my season for sure. Congrats

Thanks. These early buckles are only appreciated by the few that actually have a chance at finding them and the fewer that have actually found them.

Excellent find !!! Incredible how intact it is!! congrats and HH :icon_thumright:

Wow,, I would turn that buckle into an AVATAR, , lol
