I ran into my friend Louie last week and he told me he was having his front porch torn off and redone. On Sat. they had all the old porch removed and down to the dirt on this 1873+ house. I hurried over to swing the coil while the workers were off buying lumber. The turkey were moving that morning and I had several cross the road on the way as well as some waiting in Louie's side field when I arrived. I couldn't scare up any coins but had one good signal that pinpointed large. I dug and out came a nice crotal bell. I got another good signal in the same spot and out came bell number two with some leather still attached. Both bells are in decent shape with their ringers. I also found the remains of a Prince Albert tobacco tin and an old pocket watch that has seen better days. After the guys returned, I hunted the yard for a while but only found two grommets. ::) (I have hunted this yard extensively though.) A beautiful day to be out.

HH and thanks for looking,
Michiganne
p.s. Forgot to put a coin for reference in the bell picture. They were numbered 5 and 9.

Looks like a successful hunt to me Anne :icon_thumleft:

The pic of the turkeys is cool :hello2:

I have never found a crotal bell with some leather still attached...and yours look to be in great shape.

Good luck on your next hunt too. :headbang:

Nice finds Anne. The crotal bells look great! :icon_thumleft:

Now go get some horses and at the first snow fall we will hook em up to them and we can all go on a forum sleigh ride. Hows that sound? :headbang: I like finding those old bells. Congrats.

Those bells are a great find Anne, hard to get! I put a couple in my coat pockets when going out at Christmas, they sound great. Good luck on any future hunts there! ffd

Very nice find on the bells Anne  I haven't dug a crotal bell in quite a while now but I really enjoy finding them. Have you ever read the story Al H. wrote about finding them silver bells on his grandfathers land?

Nice Bells Anne! Glad to see you are still finding old stuff. I haven't been on here in quite a while.
