Keene sluice box assembly question

I got a slightly used 36" Keene sluice box today. I took it apart and reassembled it. Then I got to wondering if the expanded metal was in right. The question is: The expanded metal is raised on one side. Does the raised side go to the front of the box or to the rear?

I hope that question is understandable.
