kelly axe head

hello new to this site and new to MDing i just dug a axe head up today its made by Kelly co.. cant get a lot of info on it other than the Kelly cross cut etching on it is rare Kelly co has been making Axe heads since 1878 id love to know how old this thing is and if i should try to clean it

Someone more knowledgable than me will have to answer the cleaning question . You have a top of the line axe . If you do clean it up and rehaft it you will have one of the best using axes ever made .
 
I found a similar axe head on an old home site several weeks ago. I'm curious to find out how old it is also, no visible making on mine. Ron

Try cleaning it, then look for marks.
