Keyhole thing?

I would appreciate any suggestions on what this might be. I thought maybe the larger hole could possibly be for a key but I'm not sure about the smaller hole. I dug this in the yard about 7 inches down underneath an oak root about 4 inches in diameter. I have no idea about age. The house is 99 years old and this doesn't match any of the hardware in the house so I thought maybe from a piece of furniture?
