So Today was my Turn... Picked up 10 boxes today only one box was a skunk. While in line one of my tellers says an old man left this here and wants to know if you'll give him a few bucks for this. She pulls out a 1922 peace dollar, my eyes lit up and I said how about 10 bucks and she said he'll be very happy with that (so will I). So she put the money in an envelope and another teller comes by and says how much will you give me for these,(3-64 quarters and a silver Rosie) I said how about 10 bucks he said Sold! So after I got home I started ripping the boxes, only 7 enders in 4 boxes showing. 4 rolls had five silvers in them then another 4 had 4 silvers in them and a bunch with 2-3 per roll:)
So the final result was 34-90%ers including 4 Benjis, 79-40%ers and a 1933 king George one penny. :)

Wow!!! That's AWESOME!!! Nice score!

Just shy of a G. I remember I had a day like this 2-3 months ago, ended up pulling $1200 in silver for the day when silver was $27 or $28 an ounce. Very nice haul, someone dumped all of their old halves! I find it very incredible how silver halves make it all the way to boxes in the first place. They have so many opportunities to be snagged before the tellers send them off! These last two months have been horrendous for me. TimZim pulled over $1000 in melt this week too. Looks like the silver bug is going around! Who's next?

Thanks to the noob young tellers and the counting machines that don't spit out silver we can still have days like this :)

Ok, I -highly- doubt you have an authentic 1933 (British) penny. But if you do... its worth big bucks! 1933 Pennies Are Extremely Rare

Oh shiznit, I misread the date it's a 1935, looked like a 33 but I wasn't paying any attention to it with all the Ag around.

Yeah, '35 is a common date, should be worth at least 50 cents as a curiosity though. Nice coin ring BTW, what is it made from? Looks like a Franklin Half?

Yeah it's a benji, da wife got it for me as I don't like wearing my real wedding band. The one made from walkers and barbers look super nice but are much pricier.

Hey Lad! What about these???

Wow GL, nice catch. Someone knows their "stuff"

It pays to know key dates as it relates to foreign (especially European and Canadian) numismatics. I can't tell you the number of key dates or semi-key dates that are sent to be melted for scrap simply because they aren't US coins and the dealers don't bother to look them up. Sometimes when I feel like "gambling" I buy a few ounces of foreign silver coins mostly sight unseen (I try to get rid of Mexican coins and boring Canadian coins if I can and try to include British coins) and then look them up later. Usually of course I lose on silver value (the dealers around here for some reason view all foreign silver at 80-90% pure even though it may be as high as .925 or as low as 10%) but usually gain when it comes to numismatic value. And to think it would all have been melted!

And while Krause is a good way to start, it (literally) pays to have specialty references, Spink's "A standard catalogue of English coins" is essential for collecting British coins and has many more varieties than Krause does.

Oh well, had me excited for a second lol. Thanks for your expertise.

Thats a great set of boxes there. I thought I was good at 11 keepers in 4 boxes today lol. Nice haul.

Any day you fend off the skunk is a good day. HH!

I also had a killer box today, well gf picked it up on Wed for me but I just got back in town..

81 40%ers
1 90% Ken
1 1960 Frankie (1st Bender!)

A hair over 12 oz. :-) I am jealous of all those Franklins though for some reason they are my favorites..

My personal best box, cheers to that and many more happy hunting!

Great boxes! And sounds like u have some sweet ignorant tellers. Nice work.

Silver halves are dead in clark county Nevada. I cant find anything. I saw a 2004 NIFC. I got a 1964 Ag Dime, Early eliz II canada penny, and 2 wheat today working the main bank at the casino.

I found a 1942 copper nickel nickel. I threw it back like a fisherman. I hate that! You see the 1942 you flip it over and no letters on top of the building!

time to order a box or two
