Killer fluted tube bannerstone!!!

This was found this year by a new arrowhead hunting friend. Nobody hunts this spot, so he waited till around spring after the field was melted. Two axes, broken winged bannerstone, many blades, and points were also found. This tube bannerstone is museum quality and the two plow scars do not take away at all! What a find.

Very nice artifact ... do you think this could have been a ceremonial piece or would they put that much work into such a beautiful piece for everyday use?

That is so pretty. If anything the plow drag just creates more history for the item. I am glad it did not break it though. Close call. Have you ever heard that the stone other than creating more force in the throw also acted as a sound buffer to some extent? You know how animals jump the string even on a bow. I imagine many of those throwing systems were loud and blew apart when thrown and they went after the meal first and then came back to find they lost their pretty weight. Lucky us.
