I was riding around Lake Norman, NC today looking for some beaches to hunt and saw a pile of rocks on a small island. I thought to myself that it may be whats left of an old stone chimney. I pulled the boat in and got the Etrac out. Only a few swings of the loop and I popped out a flat button. Then another. Then another. A loud reading and up comes my first colonial coin. A King George III half penny. An hour later I pulled up what I thought was a piece of a flat button. I rubbed it and noticed some ornate design on it. Then I realized it was a section of a reale. I was so excited!! One of my best hunts ever!!

Congrats buddy! My best hunts have come from islands and the edges of historic waterways. Keep doing what you did today and you will find great early stuff. Don't get discouraged at the empty hunts. It's just part of the process and getting you one step closer to that next epic hunt

Great finds uncle! It's always nice to see Colonial in the hole! Let's get together soon and swing the loop!

Good area & finds.

The 'King George III half penny' doesn't look a Regal issue, so another period counterfiet.

Great hunt and excellent job on discovering that site. My brother lives in Charlotte and years ago, before kids, he had a boat on lake Norman that we used to take out when I would visit. It makes you wonder what sites are buried under the lake when they built the hydro dam in the 60's. Great eye on finding that spot and I cant wait to see what else you pull from there.
