Today I went out for 2 hours in an old spot of my town and found some random doodads and what I believe is a King William III Half Penny (correct me if I'm wrong). I can make out the word TERTIVS on the right side, so I'm guessing that's what it is. The backside is toasted, but the front is pretty decent. Unfortunately, I tried cleaning off the crud with a toothpick as I had done with a King George II Half Penny I got last month (which worked very well), but this time it actually started taking off detail on the coin, so I stopped that. Are the William IIIs and the KGs made of different materials? I guess it's just a learning process.
