Kingdom of Italy

[Mentone Grizz]

Found a neat old coin in a Garda box today. Turns out to be a 1940 2 Lira stainless steel with the nearly bald King Vittorio Emanuele III on the face. A bit smaller in diameter than a half dollar. 5,742,000 were minted.

That's a nice looking coin and a neat find. Congrats!

[HolyDiver]

Very nice coin.

That's pretty cool! According to my world coin catalog, if it is magnetic it is worth $1-$2, if not it is worth .40-$1.

kestrelia;
Well, the coin is magnetic! I'm in the money!! Whoo Hoo!!!!
Actually, this is a very interesting coin from the Italian fascist period, while still under rule by a king. Where the heck do you suppose a coin like that came from to get into my box??
Last August, I found a 1936 German coin from the early years of Nazi influence.....it had Paul von Hindenberg on the face. 90% silver, too! Coins like that make you wonder how they got back into circulation.
Thank you for the additional information!
