Knives/Forks

I found some knives and forks at a small town thrift shop when i was at the lake this weekend. I paid a 1.10 for them so it won't hurt if they are plated which i lean towards them being lol. They look old and i can see no blatant wear through marks on them to show they are plated. I will probably take them to my silver buying lady to have them acid tested, since i haven't bought a acid kit yet.

I have tried googling the marks on them with little to no information about them really or the company that made them. So I am posting here in hopes that somebody knows more. They are fairly weighty little things and ring a very high pitched tone when i tap them on something and ring for quite a while. Thanks for any information and HH!!

This looks interesting: CRAIG CGR1 (STERLING) at Replacements, Ltd and might encourage further investigation. Googled Craig flatware.

Yeah that was about the only link i could find to help solve the mystery (Hopefully they are sterling silver, but have my suspicions and didn't want to acid them until i did some research incase they have any antique value.) The area that starts the handle also isn't the same as mine in the GGR1 as mine. Also saw a blurp that said Craig Silver Co was from the mid-late 1800s.

Looks plated though right, frankendime? Judging form the handle area of it.

I think it's German or nickel silver. Only one way to know for sure...

Mine is Rogers and is not silver...

With the mark of "solid" and considering the era of manufacture, I'm wondering if they might be coin silver.

Craig was Ct manufacturer late 1800's early 1900's.

Don't forget google books when researching things. Though there is not much on Craig Silver co there.
