LA to Phoenix desert trip

Hi, my brother and I are going to Phoenix this weekend. We usually go to the Mojave this time of year to go walk in the desert, metal detect, get out.
Just wondering if anyone has any tips for places to search for anything along the 10 freeway from Los Angeles to Phoenix in the desert past Blythe. Meteors, gold, metal detecting.

Google up if there are any known strewn fields along your route for meteorites and detect any rest areas, I have found gold and silver jewelry in grassy areas, people stretching out on the grass lose stuff. Another spot is right at Blythe down on the river where everyone goes partying the Ehrenberg side AZ.side of the river. Can't think of any other areas right now. Well of course you have all around Quartzsite AZ. You just need to be sure you are not on anyones claim. Try out any washes or dry riverbeds.
