Lake find in Michigan

I posted this link in the fossil forum......... The ground is just to dry to cut plugs. I have a few dry circles that I had to buy some grass seed and water because its just to darn dry. I took my boys to the beach and look what they found wile Dad pulled his $0.82 for the day. I really hope it is a fossil because he is really excited. Thanks for looking.

Not an expert here, but it looks clam or mollusk like, if it's a fossil, then I'd think

It does look like a clamshell

I guess the pic could come off that way but, it is entirely to hard and the split is at the wrong side for a clam shell. Sometimes pics do not do justice. It has a weird indent on the front of the curved side. Definitely not like any clam shell I ever seen. It weighs 5 grams. I dont know. I could be wrong but still am leaning towards a fossil at this point. I do thank you guys for your input. HH

Thats a brachiopod fossil and in darn good shape too...
