Has anyone been lately to Lake Okeechobee in south Florida or Lake Lanier in Georgia?

Heard that the drought at these lakes is the worst in recent memory. Read yesterday in the news that several people with metal detectors have been seen at Lake Lanier (Atlanta). Was wondering what kind of goodies are being found.

Moe,

Theres a forum thread on t-net about hunting with MD's at Lake Okeechobee.its a no no.you will get arrested.I think its in the beach and shallow water forums.Florida state still owns submerged lands, even if the lakes dry up.

I lived on Lake Lanier for many years, I saw the water line so high when I was a kid that we would take the boat out and rescue squirrels with boat paddles while they were trying to cross the lake but I have never seen it this low. My brother plans to go look for his senior ring he lost 30 years ago. Mine is somewhere in 6 mile creek, an area in the south area of the lake.
