Gidday mate. It certainly is a beaut. I've done a bit of searching, but no luck. I agree with you about the likelihood it was used as a sinker, so it could have originated from anywhere, but don't discount the old ammo/explosives wharf nearby as a possible source. If I had to guess an age, I would say around late 19th Century, so maybe Naval rather than air related, but I'll leave it to the experts. Cool find. Cheers, Mike

It more likely is a Kynoch 1" aiming rifle round. They used them to sight in naval guns at one time.
