Hi everyone!
Today I found my largest button, and I don't know much about buttons - but I wonder if this is a "Dandy"? It's 35mm wide, but it's not decorative (no designs on it). Does anyone know how to estimate the age / date of this button?
I also found another small button with the shank broken, and a part of a broken buckle. While I'm asking: does anyone know how to determine age of a buckle like this?
One other cool find was the crushed up thing with holes - I believe it's an oil lamp burner.
And the chunk of metal (lower right) is old lead I believe, from the weight and color.

Overall a great 1-hour hunt!

yes a Dandy Button - 1750-80.

The buckle is not broken other than missing its iron pin. Its a horse harness buckle from the 19th C, but they hardly changed in 100 years.

Good call. I can remember first mistaking my own early recoveries of that buckle type as being broken.
