I found this large cent today at a local park, I knew it was a large cent when I dug it and that it was in bad shape so I left the dirt on it til I got home to clean it up. I noticed the difference from the other large cent I found last year (1849) and identified it as a Cornet (?) head large cent. When were they made and how can the date be gone (or is it) and the stars still be there ? What should I do next? Boiling Peroxide bath? Toothbrush ? I'd like to see the date on it but it may be too far gone.

I say Coronet :icon_thumleft: There may not be a date to get. Try some hot peroxide on a Q-tip just around the date area.
