I found this yesterday at an 1860's 70's house in town. I was finding a lot of old targets not very deep. I also found an 1851 largie in same yard. Anyone have ideas on this button? Thanks Lyle

It's the right size for a rosette, doe it look like an eastern European motif with the castle and flag to you?

Definately European scene - reminds me of Heidelberg Castle.

Thank you I hope so too. Never seen anything like it.

This is a button for sure. The style, with the braised on shank means certainly button. This was made during a "revival" of the one-piece design, during the Victorian Era, late 1800s.

Cheers,

Buckles

Thanks buckles for your input!
