Large /fat date

This penny I found has a date that seems to be fatter than usual any ideas

There is a small and large for 1982.

There is large & small date var in both the P & D, also same with copper & zinc 82'. I usually weigh mine first (cop vs zinc), then P & D, then Lg vs Sm.

Yes, there are Small and Large Date Varieties in both the Copper and Copper coated Zinc Cents produced in 1982. However, the O.P.'s 1982-P Cent appears to have suffered a slight hit (damage) on the "2" and a portion of the "8" causing spreading on the two digits. I could be wrong, so some close-up pics of the Date are needed.
