I found these in the front yard at a large mansion built in the late 19th to early 20th century. They are large cast iron discs about 9” in diameter 1/2” thick with 6” spikes. When I started finding them they seemed to be placed in the yard in an arc in numerical order. But a few where off to the side. I found them about 6-7” deep. Some where spike up others number up. I’ve only found #’s 4-10 so far. There may or may not be more. I was thinking they may be part(s) of some sort of ornamental lawn sundial. What do you folks think?

Possibly numbers from a large sundial? Look in center of the arc for the pointer.

I vote sundial as well. I would imagine the rest of them are still there too

I used to work in a cemetery and we had the same things that designated the corners of the lots, one year I got the job of going over the whole cemetery with a detector and finding them all, ours were aluminum. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

Yep, I’m thinking sundial. I need to hit it again. I’ve gotten bit by the old coin bug and didn’t do so well with those here. It’s kinda got put it the back burner for a little while. Thanks for all the input.

They are markers for a clock golf set. Early 20th C.
