Large piece of brass

[Bama Billy]

This is an old piece of property in central Alabama that we’re pretty sure had a small train station on it at some point. We didn’t manage any coins yet but found a bunch of steel not especially interesting stuff. My friend I was hunting with did find this old piece of brass. I say old, it LOOKS old to me anyway. Anybody have a guess what it might be? Thanks

It’s smooth on both sides. Not saying it isn’t but it doesn’t look like it was broken off of anything to me
