I havent been able to do much searching due to the thanksgiving week holiday. (Im still in high school)

But anyways I did a total of 6 boxes of halves and 2 boxes of dimes. All of which were skunks :( I dont have a lot of free cash so it is hard for me to order and search boxes in large quantities AKA one at a time :)

I also did a box of pennies just to store some copper. Ended up pulling 449 coppers 3 of which were wheaties, despite the success with that I don't think I will be searching pennies any time soon as it took me around 2 hours to do just one box.

Ironically I have found more wheaties just searching the rolls of pennies we have in the safe at work, but hey whatever works.

I just opened a new account at Chase so I could have more diversity and also because there are two branches literally within 2 minutes of my house. I have been getting all of my boxes form them lately and have been getting skunked. So I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck with them?

I use Secruity Services Federal Credit Union and Chase (SSFCU is only in Texas and Colorado I believe). Anyone had luck with chase? Who do they get their boxes form, I would like to definitely like to diversify the sources from which i get my boxes.

I hardly ever do boxes and I get a lot of silver and a lot of wheats. My advice to you is to go to banks and request hand rolled coins. When they ask me why I tell them I have vending machines and the hand rolled coins are easier to open. I have accounts at three different banks. I have a system of dumping certain halves and cents at one bank and getting dimes and nickels in exchange. That way I'm always flush with some coins to search. After a while the tellers will get used to you and know what you need as soon as you walk in the bank.

At banks that I don't have accounts at I've requested a coin bag from the teller. Most will offer it for free assuming you are already a customer. Having the bag allows you to walk into many branches of that bank with the "credibility" that you are a customer and most won't ask for your account number if you are simply buying change.

Always be pleasant to the tellers. They have hard jobs and deal with irritated people all day. A little compassion will go a long way.

Another tip (got this one from Rich Hartford). Search a few hundred dollars of hand rolled dimes every week (or day if possible). You are guaranteed to find silver. I average about one silver for every $100 searched but recently I found 25 rolls of solid silver dimes. This game is about volume. The more you do the better your luck will be.

Good luck to you,

Most definently, I was even thinking about cashing in my halves just so i could get an extra $500 to double up on my efforts. But since silver is going back up I think ill wait it out until christmas haha. But thats what the biweekly paycheck is for :p
