last nights digs

Managed to get a quick hunt in on an old farm site.
Not a lot, but the rein guide (terret) was different than I usually find. They are usually round.
Is there a special purpose for this shape or was it just decorative?

I found a cool looking one recently as well. Mine is ractangle shaped. I assume just fancy but I could be wrong.
