45 buttons - best 1 day total this year breaking yesterdays record.
A couple of new types of Military Shoulder/Lapel/Capbadges. Particularly a pick axe crossing a rifle, so maybe a rare WWI tunnellers. :)
Nice early cockerel barrel tap piece
Hammered complete but foldered over of the Commonweath 1649-60 - Penny. Its my first penny of this type so I will not attempt to bend it. :o

Hi Crusader,

Well done on such a varied bunch of finds, and all in one day, that is incredible. Why is all the treasure in England found in fields ???

God bless
Peter

It was dumped & sometimes burnt on the fields to condition the heavy clay.

You guessed it, plenty of junk.

They are printing blocks with various letters.

whats pictured is ok, I meant we dug loads of junk. 1 keeper for every 25 pieces of junk.

Just looked at these pictures this morning, wondering what will happen today. Will we beat our button count again!

I predicted on Friday before we started this field that the middle section will produce the older finds. We are within striking distance of the start of the middle section. The trash/buttons & stuff is becoming less concentrated but no real signs of any roman coins/pottery etc..

Only 1hr to go & I'll find out

All the best Crusader, beat that last count

God bless
Peter

Fantastic finds would love to find that kind of keepers bet I would love some of the junque too! :icon_sunny:

Nice haul of relics.WTG on all of your efforts and love for the hobby :icon_sunny:

Nice finds - the Army Service Corps button caught my eye as I've parted with a few ASC cap badges in the last 12 months.

Great finds Crusader and lots of Dedication Big!!

Those are some sweet digs there mate.....congrats!

Happy Hunting,

Dugholes

Commonwealth hammered :o not so common :o on my wish list ::) very good find

Great finds again Cru... You button count is just amazing, of course if I was next to you I would also find a lot too.
It seems like where you live they didn't have any trash places, just everyone burnt it and dumped it. Sometimes
maybe coins in the clothes and stuff too. I have not found that anywhere else in England, although I have only
been to two or three areas. I have never been in such fields (except the one time). Its really not so amazing that
you are finding so much then. Funny that they did that on many fields, not only a few.

The friend that was with me in September (D) found a cracking Commonwealth coin recently, here is a shot of
it...

is there anyway you can date
most of the buttons you find??

Yes - experience, books, internet

Not positive, but I think this may be an early WWI period Royal Pioneers badge.
