Nice early pony, what makes you think it's a Newark NJ bottle?View attachment 1787112
This is officially my oldest bottle, from around 1858-1861 era. B.W.C. & Co. It comes out of Newark NJ, and I think it was a beer bottle. From my understanding, these are pretty rare, especially around these parts.

ID'd by who? It's marked unknown on the sodasandbeers website and there are no Newark brewers or bottlers with those initials on the NJ Bottle Forum, so I am curious who identified it as being from Newark...It was ID'd as a Mineral water bottle from that town. I actually think it is a beer, made byy some brewery that went by Kruger.

I think whoever said it was from Newark may have found one there, like you found your's in your neck of the woods, but
I have serious doubts because it doesn't match anyone with either of the first initials with a last name starting with a "C". Great bottle either way...
