Ex animo = From the heart; sincerely-- This phrase was used as a "byline" by a famous treasure hunter/writter

Persona non grata = an unpleasing person

Via = By way of

Vox populi, vox dei = The voice of the people is the voice of God

Regnat populas = The people rule

Semper fidelis = always Faithful

Semper paratus = always prepared

Summus ius summa inuria = the more law, the less justice

pro bono = for free

pro bono publico = for the public good

alea iacta est = the die is cast

Bona fide = in good faith

Cave canem = beware of the dog

Carpe diem = seize the day

Caveat emptor = let the buyer beware

Ave atque vale = Hail and farwell

Latin is the biggest contributor because the other romance languages are derived from it. French and Spanish in particular. I speak Spanish and can understand French to a point because both come from Latin. Learn Latin. It's a dead language, but when you know it you can name insects and write prescriptions and such.
