Need help ID'ing this lead button.
I found this lead button close to a blockhouse built in the 1700's. The button is the size of a nickel,it has the letter P on it the other letter is hard to make out but could be a H.

Firstly welcome to Tnet :hello:

Is it definately a button, ie. does it have a shank (loop) or a scar from a missing loop?

What state did you find this in? Maybe it is a Pennsylvania button?

This is a page from the Albert's book on American Revolution Pennsylvania buttons - they are all 1 piece cast pewter.

Is that rust on the back? How thick is it. If there is rust or holes on the side I would say it is a lead seal. That's what it looks like from the pics.

My thought as well from the picture but its a really poor image to make out whats going on. Not seen any Lead or pewter buttons that have a look of a two piece construction. :dontknow:
