Hey folks. I have this pewter button and was wondering if anyone knew the age based on the shank attachment point. I've found several pewters, but not with an attachment point this pronounced. thanks in advance.

best quess late 1600s - early 1700s
 
Thanks Casper! I thought it looked older than the others I've found. The site dates way back, so that makes sense.

I'm not aware of an 17th C buttons like that.

Normally these type have an iron shank & are circa 1770s.
 
That's what I'll go with. 1770s. Not bad for an eyeball find on the riverbank lol
