This has got me wondering. I believe it's made of lead it really heavy but what is it for I found it in an old cellar hole dating back to mid 1800s
 

It looks like it may have been used for making cornbread or something like that. Just a guess though.
It screams kitchen to me, but I dunno :dontknow:
Are you sure it isn't iron?

It wasn't rusty at all and here in upstate my only one winter out and rust sets in and it's super heavy like lead. Just a strange thing

Very Nice relic, it may be a bookend or an inset decoration for a fireplace. Sub 8-)

The image looks like 2 women reading a letter, or sewing. Would it be a sewing basket type of thing ?, seems unlikely.
