Lead US Buckle

Detecting an old home site in a farm field getting lots of pop cans and then I found this. I haven’t cleaned it up yet. It rang up lead and is heavy. I’ve tried researching online, but can’t find any info on lead/pewter buckles. Any info is much appreciated!

it's likely sheet brass with a solder filled back.

Could it be a plate that is missing it's brass front? A very nice find either way.

Looks like the lead filling from a US cartridge box plate...as others have suggested.

Were the belt buckles and cartridge plates the same? Or can I measure it to determine which one it may have been?

that would be solder filled not pure lead. that's why the filling gets crumbly.

box plates are a bit smaller. It looks like a box plate.

box plates have a wire attachment , buckles are attachments that resemble arrow heads or puppy paw
